Törökbálint is a lovely little village located very close to the outer rims of SW Budapest. When a friend came with an idea to convert his childhood home to a little bistro, i was over the roof. The 150-something years old building with thick stone walls turned out to be a wonderful material to work with. We tried to save as much beauty from the old structure as possible and create something modest, honest, respectful to its origins.
We cleared the walls from the endless layers of gypsum and paint, cleaned and reused the demolished wooden structures, repurposed old furnitures and household objects to make it friendly. I could not resist not to do one glitch in the system - a vectorized lace tablecloth used to decorate the walls as they do in country homes in the area.
