The startup scene in Budapest, Hungary is on fire recently. Our office was contacted early this year to help create a nice, large, lofty office for Sequence IQ, a hungarian startup firm aquired by Hortonworks.
"Hortonworks® (NASDAQ: HDP) is the leading contributor to and provider of Apache™ Hadoop® for the enterprise, and our mission is to establish Hadoop as the foundational technology of the modern enterprise data architecture."
Basically I wanted to merge a workspace with a playground, to create a semi-playful, semi-serious atmosphere where people can develop their ideas in a stress-free environment.
The design concept was to create an IT workspace fulfills the needs of a whole team of coders, who often like to share thoughts in small groups, highly addicted to caffeine and share a deep hatred for cubicles. In the meantime, I wanted to fill their everyday life with living things, and also wanted to represent the fact that I highly respect how they're disassembling data into really small pieces just to make it into one big piece so everyone can understand it.
